Dr. Ashanti Haynes is a passionate educator dedicated to the success of all students, specifically, Black and Brown students. A.T. Haynes Consulting, LLC was birthed after Dr. Haynes graduated from St. John Fisher University in December 2022. She saw a need within the education field to train instructional staff members to become culturally responsive educators.

Dr. Haynes is a former urban elementary teacher and assistant principal with twelve years experience in the education field. Dr. Haynes implemented culturally responsive teaching practices as an elementary teacher of 1st, 4th and 6th grades. She had several students score proficiency levels on the NYS ELA, Mathematics and Science exams due to the culturally responsive practices implemented. Dr. Haynes has established culturally responsive initiatives such as a guest speaker series, schoolwide diversity committee, and coached a team of students to win the inaugural African American History Bee in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Haynes has led professional development on differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching (some of the best PD teachers had received, so she has heard!) In addition, Dr. Haynes organized and managed an effective committee to decrease chronic and severe absenteeism during hybrid learning.

Dr. Haynes holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication from the University at Buffalo, a Master of Science in Education (Childhood Grades 1-6), a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from Buffalo State University and a Doctorate in Executive Leadership specializing in culturally responsive teaching from St. John Fisher University. In her spare time, Dr. Haynes enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, fitness, and cooking.

Who We Are

“Teachers’ instructional behaviors are strongly impacted by their attitudes and beliefs about student diversity. Positive attitudes beget positive actions towards ethnically diverse students which have positive effects on student achievement.”

~Dr. Geneva Gay

“If teachers pretend not to see students’ racial and ethnic differences, they really do not see the students at all and are limited in their ability to meet their educational needs”

~Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings
